Journey to Mount Kailash

Mount Kailash, rising to 6,638m in the Trans-Himalayan region of Tibet, is revered by four major religions — Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon — as the cosmic axis of the universe and the abode of Lord Shiva.

The Kailash Parikrama (52km circumambulation) is said to wash away the sins of a lifetime. The sacred Mansarovar lake at the foot of Kailash is believed to be created by Lord Brahma himself.

⚠ Important Note

This yatra requires Chinese visa, Tibet Travel Permit, and Alien Travel Permit. Availability depends on India-China diplomatic relations. Please enquire for current 2026 status and alternate Nepal (Kerung) route options.

Why Kailash is Sacred

Revered by Four Major Religions
  • Abode of Lord Shiva & Goddess Parvati (Hinduism)
  • Axis Mundi — Centre of the Universe (all religions)
  • Demchok (Supreme Bliss) abode — Tibetan Buddhism
  • Ashtapada — site of first Jina's liberation (Jainism)
  • 108 Kailash Parikramas = Moksha (Liberation)
  • Holy Mansarovar lake created by Lord Brahma himself

Ways to Reach Kailash

Nepal (Kerung) Route
Via Kathmandu, Nepal
Enter Tibet via Nepal's Kerung border. Less physically demanding. Operates independently of India-China relations — more reliable for 2026 bookings.
📍 Start: Kathmandu  |  ⏱ 14–16 Days
Lhasa Fly-In Route
Via Lhasa, Tibet
Fly directly to Lhasa and drive overland to Kailash via the Friendship Highway. Best for limited time. Excellent acclimatization via Lhasa (3,656m).
📍 Start: Delhi / Kathmandu  |  ⏱ 12–14 Days
